The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, has recognized Atlas Copco for its efforts to increase productivity while using fewer resources.

The company was ranked 18th on the forum’s annual Global 100 list. It was the seventh time that Atlas Copco has been ranked.

Ronnie Leten, Atlas Copco president and CEO, said, “Being socially and environmentally responsible is not only the right thing to do but is how we develop and grow our business in a profitable way. The very latest examples of this are the new compressor factories in India and China, which are built according to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).”

The manufacturing facility at Pune, India, will be commissioned on Feb. 21, while the factory in Wuxi, China will be inaugurated in March. Atlas Copco has the goal of increasing customer energy efficiency by at least 20% between 2010 and 2020 by making its products more efficient.
